The Data Recovery Services

of Internet Desk, Inc.

TI W.D. 800
Now that's a big hard drive!
This drive shows just how far we've come in a few years. Notice the 3-1/2" floppy in the picture to provide a size reference. The motor on the right connects to the platter shaft via a belt on the underside of the case. This drive was not sealed as current drives are, but was vented to the outside air through a filter. It's a Texas Instruments model W.D. 800 and weighs as much as a sewing machine.

Your current problem is not likely with one of these, so let's get onto the discussion about the service you may need to get your data back.

Here's how it works:

(1) Send your failed drive for recovery to:

Internet Desk, Inc.
9330 LBJ Freeway, Suite 900
Dallas, Texas 75243
214-561-6744

(2) We check it out and email or call you with the results along with a firm quote for the service not later than the next business day. Then you decide if you want us to proceed with recovery.

It's as Simple as That!

No Minimum Fee

Open Hard Drive
There is no minimum cost, but let's be honest with each other. It takes time, special equipment, effort and expertise to do this work and it is going to cost you something to have this service performed -- if data can be recovered. Only you can determine if the exercise is worth the cost. Could the cost be as little as $100.00? Yes, in some cases the recovery of the data is quite easy and that savings is passed on to you. Quite frankly, though, a recovery at that cost is rare and only happens in cases where the drive behaves normally for us and requires no special effort to recover the data.

How to Decide

Open Hard Drive
Is it worth the trouble? The answer is one only you can provide. If the missing data can be re-entered by clerical staff at a "person-hour" cost of $8.50 and the data re-entry time is estimated to be ten hours, then you should probably just re-enter the data.

If, on the other hand, it would take 20, 30 or 100's of hours to re-enter -- then let's try data recovery. If the data cannot be reconstructed from any source other than the hard drive itself, then you must determine the value of that data. That value may be based on its usefulness and how much you would be willing to pay to have it back. That would be the price point at which you would either accept or reject our price for the recovery.

How Long Will This Take?

The turn-around time for your quote will be within one business day. We will respond to you via the method of your choice: E-Mail, telephone or fax. In most cases the data can be recovered within one day of your quote acceptance and will be shipped back to you via overnight delivery.

Returning Your Data

The data recovered will be delivered to you on CDs. It is standard for us to keep a copy of your data on a backup media in our shop until such time as you confirm that the data has been received. At that point, we will destroy the backup copies.

Is "Clean Room" Service Available?

Open Hard Drive
Yes! If efforts on the electronic/software level fail, the clean room is the next step (at your option, of course). Most of the time we are able to avoid this, but if a drive will not spin or has head rack damage, etc., -- and the data is that important, the clean room can be used. This is a fairly expensive proposition depending on the drive, operating system, and some other factors. If needed for recovery from your drive, we can discuss those options after our initial evaluation on the bench.

Who Do You Trust?

Internet Desk, Inc. has been satisfying clients from coast-to-coast, both large and small. You'll recognize some of them: Frito-Lay, Nikon, IBM, Texas Farm Bureau, Lennox International, Star Micronics, and many small business and individual clients. Additionally, our data recovery service does not void any warranty you may have with the manufacturer.

Caution! Caution!

When you have had a loss of data there are a few things that you should not do. Any of these actions will decrease our ability to perform your recovery: DO NOT defrag the drive. Defrag will attempt to re-write all of the data it can access on the drive and may overwrite the data you need to have recovered. DO NOT restore data from backup copies unless you are sure that all the data you need is on the backup. This process also can overwrite the areas of the drive containing important data. DO NOT use consumer level recover/restore software unless the data to be recovered has no value at all. DO NOT take the screws out of the drive to look inside unless your real intention is to create a paper weight.

Payment Options

It is customary for recovery fees to be in hand prior to shipping the data CDs. You may mail a check to us or authorize a charge to your VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express card.

Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express Accepted
